Because in America most of the online foreign coverage of the Olympics is being blocked at the foreign servers.
What that means is that the rest of the Free World can watch the Olympics online at a time of their choosing. Americans (who at least know they're free) must only view content approved by NBC (General Electric Corporation.)
Sorry American Olympiads but all your hard work and training does not make me proud. You are representing a multi-national corporation. You are not representing the American people or America's best interests. Frankly, I hope you find something more productive to do with your lives - go into professional sports and wear the logos of the corporations that are sponsoring you.

I think it's unfair to be so negative towards the athletes - they're doing it for sport and the medal and the chance to compete (among other reasons). Whether our country and corporations allow or ban the viewing of events online is not relevant to their competition.

You are correct. I was wrong to be so negative towards the athletes. They have their own motivations and politics is probably at the bottom of their list.
